Painting

Painting
I guess I can say this is another on of my favorite art project other then the print making project.  Before this painting we have to learn the value and shades of colors.  It was boring at first but as this art pice come alive, will at lease for me I start to enjoy it very much.  This is my first time painting and it was fun sure I have got paint all over my hand but it is worth it.  We start with search for a landscape picture or we can bring on of our own.  I have choose water lily.  Then on the canvas we brush on a thin layer of base paint to make it not so dry and that will make it easier to move and blend the paint.  Before I paint on anything I first outline the water lily I was going to paint with a pencil then I start with the background I have made four different blues and that will make the water surface.  When the water is done I start to paint the lily and the lily pad.  After I finish with the first base for the lily and lily pad I go back and add value with different shades of that pink and green.  When it is dried I start with the reflection of the lily by blending the pinks and blues together.  When that is all dried I place some white on top of the water surface to make it look like fog to make it more mysterious.  Now it is finished and we then sign our name on it.  And I'm looking forward to do my second painting hope you are too.

Clay Tile

Clay Tile

This is my first time making a clay tile.  While in this unit I have learn a lot about clay then I would thought.   Clay can dry out very easily so while when we are still working with clay we have a brush water in to it once in a while.  To keep it from drying out overnight we will place damp paper towel and place it into plastic bag.  We first research in 2 different biome that we like the most. I chose to research about the marine and tropical rain forest. We then choose a animal or plant that lives in that biome.  After choosing the object we then search for the reference.  We then draw two different pictures that represent each biome.  Finally the clay making can begin.  We each get a base tile to work with for our selected biome, for me it is the marine with coral reefs. Then I build up a rock hill with the interior empty so it can dry faster to place the hill on top up the base we will have to score the edges and on the base on where the edges is going and brush on water and finally place the hill on to the bace and press it on.  After the hill is on the base I start to make different coral reefs and place it on to the hill.   I then create the rocky feeling with pressing a rock in to the clay and leaving the marks on it.   We let it set until is is completely dry and we then bake it.   After it is done we start panting the tile.  We build the value with light and dark colors to try and make it visual appealing.  After we finish painting and is dried we place 3 layers of protective coat and it is finished.

Print Making

Print Making

I have chosed the humming bird as my print making piece.  I love the way that humming bird goes from flower to flower that's why I put rose with the humming bird.  To make this print first we search for reference of the main animal or object and bakgoround.  We the draw a picture then using a focus paper and pick out 3 pictures.  Then we trace it on to tracing paper and put it on the linoleum.  We then decide on how we want the print to look like on black and white.  We cut it out the parts we twant it to be white and add details to out print.  I really enjoy the whole process of making the print.  I can say this is my favorite art project so far.

Stencils

Stencils

This week we have the stencils project where we have to take a picture of yourself or a animal then photo shop to make it look less detailed, and I did a puppy in a basket, it was fun I learn more about the value and what it pervades to the drawing.  It takes me along time to cut it out.  I did the pink first then yellow and purple.  After I paint yellow after pink I realize that parts of the pink is completely cover by yellow to fix that I quickly cover that part again with pink which is a mistake. i should have waited for yellow to dry.  In this lesson I learned patient is one of the keys to successful work.

Contor drawing

The contor drawing has improved my knowledge of lines and how one line can make a big difference.  In this drawing I have tried to draw cores line using just one line, but it was not as easy as I thought it would be and failed. Line can make 2D drawing seems like 3D and trick is how you use it.  And the lesson I learn from contor drawing is every line is important to an artist.

iPad value study

iPad value study

The similarity bewteen oil pastels and iPad's layer's pro are that the both did the same of work but in a different way. They both give you the similar finished work but at a different process.  The oil pastels is more hands on, but we can't undo or we not worry about to mess with each layer.  Layer pro is less hands on, but at the same time it gave us more spaces for mistakes and room to fix. The technology is very useful in art, usually it would have taking us 1-3 days of school days to finish a oil pastels painting   It is very convent and fast.
